Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions outline how I work, what you can expect, and what is expected in return. They exist to ensure clarity, fairness, and a smooth working relationship for both of us.

By booking editing services and submitting payment, you agree to the terms outlined below.

Scope of Services

I provide the following services:

  • Copy editing
  • Proofreading
  • Content review
  • Bundled editing services
  • Sample edits

Each service is defined on the Services page. Work is limited to the scope agreed upon at the time of booking.

I do not provide ghostwriting, full manuscript rewrites, developmental editing, or plagiarism checking.

If you are unsure whether something falls within scope, please ask before booking.


What Is Included

Each full project includes:

  • The agreed editing service
  • Tracked changes and comments
  • One round of follow up questions
  • One very light revision pass if needed

This is intended to clarify edits and fine tune small details, not to reopen the scope of the project.

Any additional revisions or extended work are handled on an ad hoc basis and may require additional fees.


Sample Edits

Sample edits are copy edits only and are intended to demonstrate style, voice handling, and overall fit.

Free sample edits are limited to:

  • 300 to 500 words
  • Five per month
  • One per client

Paid sample edits are:

  • 1,000 words
  • Billed at the current sample rate
  • Applied to the final invoice if a full project is booked

Sample edits are not full critiques, developmental edits, or content reviews.


Turnaround Time

Turnaround times are based on word count, service type, and current schedule.

Typical timelines are:

  • Projects under 5,000 words. 1 to 3 days
  • Standard length projects. 2 to 3 days
  • Full manuscripts. Minimum 1 week, adjusted based on length and availability

Exact timelines are confirmed before work begins.

Delays in receiving materials may affect delivery dates.

I currently accept:

  • Word documents
  • Google Docs

Other formats may be considered on request.


English Conventions

Proofreading is available in both international English and US conventions. Please specify your preference at the time of inquiry.


Payment Terms

All prices are listed in USD unless otherwise stated.

Accepted payment methods include:

  • PayPal
  • EFT
  • Wise
  • Interac e Transfer for Canadian clients

CAD invoices are available upon request.

Payment structure is as follows:

  • Sample edits and projects under 5,000 words are billed in full at the time of booking
  • Larger projects require a 50 percent deposit to secure the booking, with the remaining balance due on delivery

Work does not begin until payment or deposit is received.


Cancellations and Rescheduling

Editing time is reserved specifically for your project.

Cancellations

  • Deposits are non refundable once a project is scheduled
  • If work has already begun, payment is required for the portion completed

Rescheduling

  • Rescheduling requests must be made at least 48 hours before the scheduled start date
  • New dates are subject to availability
  • If the schedule is full, you may be placed on the waitlist

Missed Start Dates

If materials are not delivered by you on the agreed date without notice, your project may need to be rescheduled and could be subject to availability.


Rush Work

Rush projects may be available if schedule permits.

Rush work is subject to increased rates and must be discussed and agreed upon in advance. If your timeline cannot be realistically met, I will let you know.


Scheduling and Availability

Projects are booked on a first come, first scheduled basis.

When the schedule is full, a waitlist is used. Being placed on the waitlist does not guarantee availability by a specific date.


Communication

Communication is handled via email and the website contact forms.

Quick clarifying questions are always welcome. Extensive additional requests may be treated as new scope.


Confidentiality

All client work is treated as confidential.

Your manuscript, excerpts, and project details will not be shared with third parties without your permission.


Ownership and Rights

You retain full ownership and rights to your work at all times.

I claim no ownership, rights, or credit to your material. I am providing editorial services only.


Use of AI

I do not use AI tools to edit your work. All editing is done manually with care and attention to voice, tone, and intent.


Limitation of Liability

While every effort is made to provide high quality, professional editing, I cannot guarantee publication, sales, reviews, or outcomes of any kind.

I am not responsible for how the edited work is used, published, or received.

Liability is limited to the amount paid for the editing services provided.


Termination

Either party may terminate the agreement at any time.

If termination occurs after work has begun, payment is required for work completed to date. Deposits remain non refundable once a project is scheduled.


Agreement

By submitting payment, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and Conditions.
