Frequently Asked Questions

Turnaround time depends on length and current schedule, but general guidelines are:

Short and micro projects under 5,000 words
Typically 1 to 2 days

Standard length projects
Typically 2 to 3 days

Full manuscripts
Minimum 1 week, with timing adjusted based on word count and schedule availability

Exact timelines are confirmed before work begins.

I currently accept:

  • Word documents
  • Google Docs

If you are working in another format, you can ask and we can see if a workaround makes sense.

Yes. Each project includes:

  • One round of follow up questions
  • One very light revision pass if needed

This is intended to clarify edits and fine tune small details, not to reopen the scope of the project.

If additional revisions or extended work are requested, they will be quoted separately on an ad hoc basis.

I work across all genres.

This blog focuses on genre fiction and strong heroines, but my editing services are open to all fiction and narrative driven projects. If you are unsure whether your work is a good fit, you are welcome to ask.

No.

All editing is done manually. Your voice, tone, and intent are handled by a human, not automated tools.

Proofreading is available in both international English and US conventions. Please let me know your preference when you inquire.

Projects are booked on a first come, first scheduled basis.

When my schedule is full, a waitlist is used. If you have a specific deadline, let me know and I will tell you honestly whether it is realistic.

Short projects under 5,000 words and all sample edits are paid in full upfront.

For larger projects, a 50 percent deposit is required to secure your booking. The remaining balance is due on delivery.

Work does not begin until payment or deposit is received.

Payment is accepted via PayPal, EFT, Wise, and Interac e Transfer for Canadian clients.

All prices are listed in USD, but invoices can be converted to CAD upon request.

You can reach out through:

  • The contact form on this site
  • Email

Quick clarifying questions are always welcome.

Yes.

A paid sample edit of 1,000 words is available and applied to your final invoice if you book a full project.

I offer free 300 to 500 word sample edits each month on a first come basis. Availability is limited to 5 per month and one free sample per client.

Sample edits are copy edits only and are intended to demonstrate style and fit.

To keep expectations clear, I do not currently offer:

  • Ghostwriting
  • Rewriting entire manuscripts for clients
  • Developmental editing
  • Plagiarism checking

If you are unsure whether something falls within scope, ask. I am happy to clarify.

Rush projects may be available if schedule permits.

Rush work is subject to an increased rate and must be discussed in advance. If I cannot realistically meet your timeline, I will tell you.

That is very common.

If you are unsure whether you need proofreading, copy editing, content review, or a bundle, you can reach out with your word count, genre, and goals. I am happy to recommend the best approach.

I understand that life happens and plans change. Clear communication is all I ask.

Cancellations

If you need to cancel your project, please let me know as soon as possible.

  • Deposits are non refundable once a project is scheduled
  • If work has already begun, payment is required for the portion completed

This protects both your time and mine and ensures fairness on both sides.

Rescheduling

If you need to move your project to a later date, I am happy to accommodate when possible.

  • Rescheduling requests must be made at least 48 hours before your scheduled start date
  • New dates are subject to availability
  • If my schedule is full, you may be placed on the waitlist

If you have a tight deadline, always ask. I will tell you honestly what is realistic.

Missed Deadlines on Your End

If materials are not delivered on the agreed date without notice, your project may need to be rescheduled and could be subject to availability.

This is not punitive. It simply reflects real scheduling constraints.
